Mcleodganj
is in Upper Dharamshala and near it is
a place called Bhagsunath. The charming
church of St. John in the wilderness
is situated here in Bhagsunath and this
is the final resting place of Lord Elgin,
a British Viceroy of India during the
19th century. There is also large Tibetan
Community who have made this their home.
Numerous ancient temples like Jwalamukhi,
Brijeshwari and Chamunda lie on the plains
below Dharamshala.
The Nearest Airport is Gaggal, connected
to Delhi on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
by Jagson Airlines. Nearest Railhead
is at Chakki Bank, connected to Delhi
by the Jammu Express and to Kolkata by
the Jammu Tawi Express. NH1 and NH21
link Delhi to Kiratpur via Chandigarh.
Drive further to Una, then via Nehran
Pukhar to Kangra. Mcleodganj is 31 kms
from here. To get here from Shimla, Drive
to Bilaspur and on to Mandi. Follow NH20
to Dharamshala Via Joginder Nagar and
Palampur. |
