On
a hill is famous shrine of Naina
Devi. A colourful fair, the Shravana
Astami Mela is held in July-August.A
notable place of worship in the district
is the temple of Shri Naina Devi Ji,
situated on the hill top which rises
some 9,15m above the sacred town of
Anandpur Sahib in Ropar. The temple
stands on the very summit of the hill
above a small bazar and is reached
by a long flight of stone steps or
by a cable car.It is one of the 51
'Shakti Pithas'.
It is about 70 –Km
from Bilaspur and about 151-Km from
Shimla and It is 15 km from Anandpur
Sahib. The temple was built by Raja
Bir Chand in the eight century.Attracting
thousands of pilgrims to its many fairs,
the temple of Naina
Devi is situated on the top of a triangular
hill commanding and unparalleled view
of the Holy Anandpur Sahib Gurudwara
on one side and Gobindsagar on other.
