Destination Narkanda in Himachal Back
Shimla / Narkanda
Narkanda Camping-Snow Activities
Narkanda, at the height of 8,100 ft, is a hill station located on the Old Hindustan-Tibet Road (National Highway 22), between the valleys of river Sutlej and Beas. A favorite destination of tourists who enjoy winter sports and panoramic views of the Himalayas, the place is 65 km from Shimla. At a distance of 8 km from Narkanda is Hattu Peak. The peak is famous for skiing. Narkanda is doted with lakes, temples and deodar trees. January to June is the ideal time to visit.

What gives Narkanda its awe-inspiring view of the snowy peaks is the fact that it is located on the ridge of the last watershed before the Himalayan range. Below Narkanda, to the north is the Sutlej Valley and beyond it is the snowy massif. The ridge on which Narkanda stands is the watershed between the Sutlej on the north and the Giri river.
