Kangra / Billing

It is 47 Km from Dharamshala and has the holy shrine in North India carved out of live rock. It is 160 Ft long and 105 ft wide temple dedicated to Ram, Laxman and Sita.Fifteen richly carved monolithic rock temples sculpted in the splendid style of the Kailash temple at Ellora and dating back to the 8th century are to be found at Masrur, just 15 km south of Kangra. Images of Ram Sita and Lakhsman can be found in the sanctum of the main temple.

Around Billing

Maharana Partap Sarovar (Pong Dam): It is 55 km from Dharamshala and has a reservoir where fishing and water sports facilities are available.

Chamunda Devi (15 Km): Here are temples of Goddess Chamunda and of Shiv. It also has a large water tank in which the devotees take holy dips.

Gopalpur (13 Km): Visit to small zoo here.

Andretta (13 Km): A Tiny attractive village where lived Norah Richard once totally devoted to dramatics. Her open –air theatre, now owned by the Punjabi University reminds us of the grand old lady. The place is home to exquisite Kangra pottery. Shobha Singh lived here and his house is now a gallery for his works.

Tashijong (12 Km) It is a Tibetan monastery, also a handicrafts manufacturing unit.

By Train: Nearest railway station is Pathankot for broad gauge trains and there is also a narrow gauge train in Kangra district for which the railway station is Nagrota Bagwan.

By Air: Nearest Airport is Gaggal which is connected with New Delhi and Chandigarh by Indian Airlines Flight.

By Road: 18 km south of Yol and 4 km north of Balta. Regular Bus and Taxi services are available from Delhi and Chandigarh.

	Chamunda Devi : Not so far from the town is the famous temple with majestic Dhauladhars
as a backdrop. It is an enchanting spot with glorious views of the mountains, the Baner Khud, Pathiar and Lahala forests.

	Baijnath : Here is a thirteenth century temple of Lord shiv. the graceful proportion
and intricate carvings of this shikhar style temple are worth appreciation. It is said that Ravana prayed to Lord Shiv here for the boon of immortality.

Kangra Accommodation
