If you ask me what honeymoon is? I would probably say – it is the phase of life that sets a tone for your new and coming life. While marriage is a big fat fair about you and every person connected with you…honeymoon is solely and solely about you and your better half. There is no one to disturb the tranquility between you two partners.
If you postpone your honeymoon, considering the prospects of making a better plan later. Post marriage, a year later or two, you will be absorbed in life’s hectic commitments – work, household, children maybe, payments etc. So make the most of these precious moments!
When I married…which was few years back I made it a point to enjoy a honeymoon. I choose Manali as my destination and there were few very good reasons why I choose only Manali.
1. There were unforgettable scenic views that can be enjoyed from almost all hotel rooms. That’s true; I checked most of the hotels from luxury to real budget ones. Most of them promised lovely, panoramic views of the mountains around. So delighting in the sun, breeze or the majestic scenes won’t be a problem.
There is something mystic and majestic about the mountains here. They jaunt sky high, studded with lush deodar (Himalayan cedar) and beautiful cascades dashing down from dangerous heights – it is simply mesmerizing.
2. Tranquility for peace lovers, adventure for thrill seekers, phenomenally luxurious hotels for high-end travelers, cottages and resorts to most budgeted accommodations - Manali offers everything, all at one place.
3. Connectivity is great here. Apart from the one or two exceptions, I literally have no complains about the roads or any accessibility issues that I faced between various tourist spots. Each tourist spot was well connected.
I had gone during the start of May. The weather then had started to warm-up slightly. But if you ascend higher into the mountains it might get extremely cold. Pack your wardrobe wisely and keep yourself updated with the weather conditions at all times.
If you are planning a honeymoon trip to Manali there are few things that you should carefully consider. Never travel without prior bookings. I committed this mistake and still repent. Manali is a destination where tourists, especially honeymooners turn in huge numbers all the time. It is natural that the booking of good hotels may always be up. So plan in advance and book early before leaving for Manali.
If planning the entire itinerary is too much for you, I would recommend hiring a reliable travel agency. They will take care of the entire travel, without any fuss – right from where you stay to how you travel, where you travel and transportation – all is well taken care off. Hire a local guide for sightseeing, to ensure you don’t miss a place because each spot offers something different.
The only thing I regret about this beautiful trip is a chance to visit Rohtang. It was closed due to fresh snowfall and I missed the opportunity.
