Chail,
overlooking the Sutlej Valley, is located
43 km south of Shimla. It is a scenic
hill resort built on the three hills
- Rajgarh Hill, Pandhewa Hill and Sadh
Tiba.Chail was the summer capital of
the flamboyant Maharaja Bhupinder Singh
of Patiala, until he was defeated and
exiled to Shimla by the British in
1891. The majestic Chail Palace built
by the maharaja was once the dwelling
place of British and now a luxury hotel in Chail
surrounded by pine and deodar forests.
Chail is a popular picnic spot and
is often visited by tourists staying
at Kasauli, Shimla and Kandaghat. Deluxe
and luxury Chail cottages and resort
offers peaceful accommodation to tourist
visiting here. It provides opportunities
for a host of activities such as angling,
horse riding, trekking and walking. There
are several hotels providing comfortable
stay in the vicinity.

Sidh Baba Ka Mandir :It
is believed that Maharaja Bhupinder Singh
first chose the site on which the temple
is now situated for his palace but when
the construction was started, he had
a strange dream. A saint came in his
dream and told the king that he had meditated
on this site and thus, he should not
build the palace there.
Chail Sanctuary : The
Chail sanctuary was inaugurated on 21st
March 1976. It sprawls over about 11,000
hectares of land and is a pride of the
hill station. It houses thick forests of
deodar and oak trees, grasslands and a
variety of wildlife, especially deer, Himalayan
black bear and many colorful birds.
Cricket Ground : The
world's highest cricket and polo
ground, Chail Cricket Ground is situated at an altitude of 2144
meters above sea level. It is surrounded
by tall deodar forests and was
built in 1893. It is also a chosen
site for hockey camps that are
organized here from time to time.
Chail Palace
: Situated at an altitude
of 2250 m, Chail is a very small
but delightful hill resort. One
of its major attractions is the
Chail Palace, constructed by Maharaja
Bhupinder Singh of Patiala in 1891,
as his residence.

By Road:Kandaghat,
located at the distance of 29 kilometer
from Chail, is the nearest road link
from Chail.
Another option is Shimla, get down
at Shimla and from Shimla, take a regular
bus or a taxi for Chail.

Kasauli
:During the 17th century,
driven by unsettled political
conditions, some Rajput families
from |
Rewari(in
present day Haryana) fled their
homes. They took refuge in the
lower Himalayas, finally settling
down at a village called Kasul
where there was a perennial spring
of fresh water. Today, some three
centuries later, the spring is
the site of a water reservoir .

Choor Chandini (mountain of the
