Nahan is the headquarters of district Sirmour and is located on the ridge made by Shiwalik hills. History
The origin of this town has been linked to princes and saint. In 1621 Raja Karan Prakash founded Nahan as a capital. According another anecdote a saint lived here with a friendly 'Nahar' in ancient time. The word Nahan thereby came from 'Nahar' which means lion when translated.

Summers are hot and winters cold in Nahan. Summers usually last from March to June with average temperature ranging from being 35C to 40C. Winters become chilly last from December to February. The temperature in Nahan during winters range between 0C to 17C. January however can become very frosty. Bawan Dwadshi is celebrated here during September end when the Monsoon is receding.

Dhaula kuan
DhaulaKuan is a beautiful stop located 20 km from Paonta Sahib. The famous Kastasan Devi temple built to commemorate Raja Jagat Singh's victory and research station of HP Agricultural University is also located here.

Giri Nagar is located in Nahan, 5 km from Dhaula Kuan. This place houses the 60 MW capacity powerhouse which was built after diverting the Giri River, using a 6 km long tunnel.

Renuka
Renuka Lake is located in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. This lake has been named after Goddess Renuka and shaped like figure of a woman. It is the largest lake of Himachal with a circumference of 2.5 km. Tourists can witness the local cultural at the annual fair held in the month of November here. Facilities for trekking and boating are also available for tourists to enjoy.

Suketi Fossil Park
Suketi is a village located in Sirmaur district Himachal Pradesh which is 21 km from Nahan. This place is famous as Asia's oldest fossil park and is located on the left bank of the Markanda River. Fossils and skeletons of pre-historic animals were unearthed from this very location.

Balasundri temple, Trilokpur
The Bala Sundri Temple is located 23 km from Nahan and 6 km from Kala amb. This temple was built by Raja Dip Prakash in 1573 and is dedicated to goddess Mahamaya Balasundri.
