Kangra / Haripur Guler
Haripur Historic Fort in Kangra
Haripur is on the Nurpur-Jwalamukhi road, between Nagrota Suriyan and Balta, in Kangra District. It is nearly 8 km east of Mangwal, 18 km south of Yol and 4 km north of Balta. Founded in 1464, Haripur is a historic place where the famous Kangra miniature paintings (Pahari Paintings) were born.

The town was famed as the cradle of the Kangra School of Paintings, which came to a decline at the close of the 19th century. The ancient fort and water springs at Haripur are worth a visit. During the rule of Dalip Singh (1645-1743) artists were working at Haripur However it was during the reign of Govardhan Chand (1743-1773) that an active school of painting developed at Haripur
   
Around Haripur

Balta :
Lying on the banks of the Beas, Balta is in the south-western part of Kangra District. Dada Siba (6 km), Guler (2 km) and Haripur (4 km) are the neighboring places. Palace of Dada Siba and Pong Dam are the nearest attractions.

Nagrota Suriyan: Nagrota Suriyan is situated close to the Pong Dam, in Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh. It is on the Nurpur-Jwalamukhi road and is around 12 km west of Lunji and 5 km north of Guler, a major center of Pahari PaintingNagrota Suriyan is a perfect venue for bird lovers.

Pong Dam: Built across river Beas in Kangra District, Pong Dam holds the distinction of being the highest earthen dam so far constructed in the country. The dam site serves as a paradise for nature lovers and bird watchers.

By Air: Nearest Airport is Gaggal which is connected with New Delhi and Chandigarh by Indian Airlines Flight.

By Road: 18 km south of Yol and 4 km north of Balta. Regular Bus and Taxi services are available from Delhi and Chandigarh.
