Travel Jagatsukh in Kullu
Jagatsukh, the erstwhile capital of Kullu, is one of the biggest villages in Kullu District, Himachal Pradesh. This beautiful hamlet is dotted with numerous old temples. Jagatsukh is 6 km south of Manali.Major point of attraction is an ancient Shiva Temple, built in Shikhara style. Other tourist interests include the small shrine of Gaurishankar and the chalet-roofed temple dedicated to Goddess Sandhya Devi. Sharvali Devi Temple, in the nearby village Shooru, is worth visiting.

Jagatsukh Shiva Temple is a Shikhara style shrine situated at Jagatsukh, which is 6 km from Manali, in Himachal Pradesh.Built around the early 8th century, it has a tri-ratha sanctum roofed by a Shikhara. The temple is of similar architecture as that of the Naresar group of temples.

Gaurishankar Temple : Dedicated to Shiva and Parvati, Gaurishankar Temple is an ancient stone temple located at Dashal village in Kullu District and is 8 km from Manali. A veritable showpiece in a tranquil setting, this Shaivite temple dates back to 12th century AD and is a fine specimen of the "Shikhara Style", a rare form of architecture in this part of the country.

Manu Temple :This is dedicated to the sage Manu. Just near the Hadimba Temple flows the Manalsu river, that culminates in the main Beas river. Across the Manalsu river is the original village of Manali that houses the ancient temple of the sage Manu. Manali itself is named after Manu, who is said to have dwelt here.

Largi : (957 metres) 34 km. This is a small hamlet providing excellent trout fishing. The famous rivers Sainj and Tirthan join the Beas a few hundred metres below. Larji is patronised mostly by anglers.

Sharvali Devi Temple : Sharvali Devi Temple is an ancient shrine situated at Shooru village, about eight kilometers from Manali, in Himachal Pradesh. The temple was believed to be built by Pandavas, the mythical characters in the great epic Mahabharata.

How to get there


By Train: The nearest rail head is Chandigarh which is 320 km away.

By Air: The nearest airport is Bhunter which is about 50 km and 10 Km beyond Kullu. Archana Airways and Jagson Airways operate daily flights from Delhi to Kullu & Shimla to Kullu.

By Road: It is well connected by road from Chandigarh and Delhi and situated on National Highway No 21. Regular buses, coaches and taxies ply from Delhi and Chandigarh.

Manali: According to Hindu mythology, Manali was the home of the lawgiver Manu (after whom the town is
named). Legend has it that when a flood deluged the earth, Manu and the gods were towed to dry ground by a giant fish, which was the seventh `avatar' of the god Vishnu.
