Dhankar : Dhankar, the
erstwhile capital of Spiti, is a scenic
village situated at an altitude of 3870
m above sea level, in Lahaul and Spiti
District, Himachal Pradesh. It is 25 km
east of Kaza and 23 km from Tabo. Major
point of attraction here is an ancient
fort and an 800-year-old Dhankar Monastery
Tabo : Situated
at the height of 3050 meters and
On the left bank of river Spiti
not far from Sumdo, Tabo is surrounded
by high mountains. The thousand
year old Tabo Gompa, that was established
by the painted stucco, the monastery
has priceless collections of manuscripts
and thankas.
Darcha : At an
altitude of 3360 m, Darcha is ideal
place for trekkers. You can start
off trekking from here to Padem
passing through Shingola as well
as Baralacha/Phirtsela. It is around
24 km from Keylong and offers facilities
for camping.
Kibber : 18 km
from Kaza. The highest village
in the world which is connected
by motorable road and is the highest
habitated village in the world
which has its own polling station
during elections.
