Nahan,
situated on an isolated ridge in the
Shivalik hills, is a well laid-out
picturesque town. It is the district
headquarters of Sirmour district in
Himachal Pradesh. This is a historic
town founded by Raja Karan Prakash
as the capital city in 1621, at an
altitude of 932 m above the sea level.
The town takes its name from the saint
who lived in this place with a companionable
Nahar, a lion.
The pilgrim areas Renuka, Ranital Garden,
Paonta Sahib, and Trilokpur temple
and the famous Suketi Fossil Park are
situated around this town. The town
is watered by man made lake and decorated
with temples and gardens. The town
has a bazaar with narrow cobbled streets,
which provides all kinds of things.
It has a pleasant climate throughout
the year.
