Bir-Billing in Kangra,
a perfect paragliding destination in Kangra is all set
to organise the Himalayan Pre-World Cup paragliding competition.
The event will be held from November 14-17 and is expected
to draw participation from pilots all over the world. The
tourism department of the state has taken approval from
Aero Club of India, Department of Civil Aviation and Paragliding
World Cup Association (France) for holding the same. The
event ranks top among the adventure sports events held
in the country
Bir and Billing are the twin positions where the event
will be hosted.The bald rise of billing(2600 m) is take
off site and Bir (2080m) is the landing site.

The world
record for out and return paragliding was set at Bir Billing
by a French Man Xaviour Redmond when he flew 132.5 Km. The
small town of Taragarh,Baijnath and Jogindernagar areclose
to Bir Billing and large town of Palampur is 38 Km from Bir.The
road distance between the two is 14 Km.
Bir is sheltered
by the Dhauladhar Mountains and surrounded by the Tea Gardens
whereas billing offers opportunities for high altitude and
cross country flying for more than 200 Km and its name is
now included in the international paragliding circuits. It
may be mentioned that paragliding was introduced in the hill
state way back in 2001 and it was decided to exploit the
adventure sport to the benefit of the valley. |

Aero Club of

There are
lot of lakes in Himachal Pradesh but Renuka is the most beautiful.
The famous Renuka fair celebrated at seared lake in every
year in the month of November .This fair is commemorate the
secrifies of mother Renuka .She was killed by her son Parsuram
under the order of his Rishi (saint) father Jamdagni.
The
fair celebrates the immoratality of Renuka and her son.thousand
of devotee throng to this place to receive the blessing of
their Gods and Goddess.It last for one week in which folk
dances and cultural programme organized .
On the bank of lake the temple of Parshu Ram and Renuka Devi
are situated. An old agreeable ceremony takes place when
the celebrants exchange turbans or caps even handful water
to become brother and sisters in the name of deity.

The main attractions
there are the sacred Renuka Lake, Parsuram Tal and the temples
dedicated to Lord Parsuram and his mother Goddess Renuka.

Lavi Fair is held amidst a great deal
of fanfare in Himachal Pradesh. Rampur had once been a
very important commercial center and with passage of the
time it became the venue for the famous age-old Lavi Fair,
reputed to be one of the biggest trade fairs in Northern
India.
The fair is held every year in the second week of November (11th-14th)
on the bank of River Satluj 120 km from Shimla The week long fair bring
people from kinnaur ,kullu and adjoining area for the trading of wool,
woolen cloths, carpets and shawls as well as dry fruits and horses
are bartered and sold. The town was once a major enter point on the
old trade route to Kinnaur,Tibet , Ladakh and Afghanistan .Even these
day the tradition is as vibrant as ever.

Hamir utsav
is held in Hamirpur during November every year. The three-day-long
Hamir Utsav, coinciding with the formation of the district
on November 1, 1972, started here this evening. Himachal
Pradesh Chief Minister, declared the festival open by inaugurating
the exhibition stalls put up in a local school ground
The event is marked with cultural programmes show casing
the folk music and dances of Himachal Pradesh and other
states. The Hamir Utsav is celebrated in the memory of
existence
of Hamirpur District.

A state-level kabaddi
contest for men and women would also be organised and prizes
given to the winners.
